Plan or Fate?

So, where to begin.

A blank page.

My future.

I can literally start to do or learn anything I want. We all can.

But what? That is the question.

I have spent hours searching through websites, Judo, Karate, Line Dancing, Zumba, Conservation, Cycling, Hiking, Diving (PADI not off a cliff – just to be clear!!), I’ve even looked at flying!

But what on this wonderful earth do I do?!

I know for sure I don’t want to learn to knit, paint, draw, craft or anything that involves being inside and sitting down – I do that at work for 8 hours a day in front of two computer screens – ooh nothing on a computer either! Well, maybe at some point, I do fancy learning something – like Geography perhaps, always been fascinated by the subject.

Anyway, the point is (do I have a point?!) how do i go about choosing a direction to take. Do I put all of my ‘ ooo I quite fancy trying that’ into a hat and pick one out?!

Do I try different things and see which one I like best? But that takes time, but I’m guessing it’s probably the best way to go?

Maybe I should list them all, it’ll be a long list, use the process of elimination – how far it is, cost, when it is etc.

Part of me says leave it to Fate. I do believe in fate. Serendipity – love that word – if it’s meant to be, it will be. See what comes along without forcing it.

But I still have to put myself out there, sitting at home or going to the gym won’t work, although some nights this needs to be done, especially the gym. Getting fit will give me so much more energy, I refuse, point blank, to let my age in. It’s a number. The end. I simply have to keep moving.

So, top of my list so far is diving. I’ve had a tiny taste of the ocean and the beautiful habitats under the water. Snorkelling was amazing, swimming with Basking Sharks – life changing for me, a real challenge, but imagine being able to go down and be amongst it, up close and personal. Of course I’m not confident in water, as explained in a previous blog, so I will have to build up my confidence and get stronger so I can attempt the diving.

You see, I have my future thoughts and sights on a holiday with a difference, involving conservation and a chance to give back to our planet and the creatures we share it with. This is something that is really drawing me to it. Diving would open up further possibilities.

But in the meantime, I will keep looking for something local, something to focus on and give me a challenge.

If anyone has any ideas, I’m open to suggestion.

I want to make memories, new ones, to replace the ones I’ve lost, who knows, maybe I’ll meet someone who’s of the same opinion as me, that life is too short for missed opportunities…

Life is for the taking. We have one shot at it. I’m taking aim…..
